Residents Can Donate Food at Verizon Wireless Parma Location, Company Will Also Donate $1,000 to Food Bank.
In an effort to help stock the shelves of the Parma Hunger Center as the holidays near, Verizon Wireless is holding a month-long food drive. Beginning on Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, the company’s Parma Communications Store, located at 7779 Day Drive, will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Hunger Center.
In addition to the food drive, Verizon Wireless will donate $1,000 to the Hunger Center to help with the anticipated increased demand for food as we enter the holiday season.
“This time of year can be particularly difficult for families trying to put food on the table,” said Mark Frazier, president–Ohio/Pennsylvania/West Virginia Region, Verizon Wireless. “At Verizon Wireless, we want to do what we can to help ensure the Parma Hunger Center has its shelves stocked and ready to meet the community’s needs.”
The Parma Hunger Center, located at Parma Lutheran Church on 5280 Broadview Road, supplies food to an average of 350 low-income families each month in the Parma, Parma Heights, Brooklyn, and Seven Hills area.
The Center also provides free women’s and children’s clothing, as available, and referral service to sources of family help.
