Security increased in wake of attempted abduction on campus of Tri-C | News
PARMA, OH (WOIO)- A female student was the victim of an attempted abduction on the campus of Tri-C Tuesday evening.
It happened just before 5:30 p.m. at the Western Campus of Cuyahoga Community College in Parma.
"He asked her if she would get in the car with him, and she said no," said Lt. Al Moreland of the Tri-C Police. " He approached further and when he got closer, she pepper sprayed him and kicked him in the groin area."
The suspect then fled to his car, and the student escaped.
"I would say she's very fortunate, she was prepared," Lt. Moreland added. "It may have very well prevented her from being abducted."
The suspect is described as a white man in his early to late 20's, 5-feet, 11-inches tall, with a heavy build, weighing 175-200 pounds, and wearing a black jacket with a hoodie and blue jeans. The suspect was last seen by the victim leaving the campus and driving toward York Road in a dark green, two-door car.
The campus community is urged to be vigilant. Suspicious activity should be reported to Campus Police immediately. Walk in groups or utilize the campus police escort service by calling 216-987-4325.
Police patrols and personnel have been increased in response to the incident. Local law enforcement agencies have been notified to be on the lookout for the suspect and suspect vehicle.
